Mike thanked her for the offer but declined, adding that he would try to do it himself.

Half an hour later, Mike told Jane he was done with his homework, and suggested they go out for a walk. Jane said he only began half an hour ago, and asked if she could check his answers. Mike declined, stating he doesn’t need her help.
